CHELAN, WA — November 12, 2025 — The Chelan Public Library's popular Storytime program has found a temporary home at the Lake Chelan Community Center while the library undergoes remodeling.

The partnership between NCW Libraries and The Community Center ensures that families can continue participating in early literacy programs even while the Chelan Library building is closed.

"The Community Center has been incredibly welcoming," said Vivian Edwards, supervising librarian for Chelan and Manson. “It's a really critical third place for people to gather and make connections while the library is being remodeled."

Storytime sessions are held at 10:30 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Lake Chelan Community Center. Each free, family-friendly gathering includes stories, songs, and rhymes that help young children develop early literacy skills while strengthening family and community bonds.

“We're thrilled to provide a space that keeps Storytime alive during the library remodel," said Maribel Cruz, Executive Director of the Lake Chelan Community Center. “It's exactly the kind of collaboration that brings people together and strengthens our community."

In addition to Storytime, Edwards is introducing new outreach efforts, including tech-help sessions at the Senior Center, a "Curiosity Club" for Manson students, and monthly visits to the food bank.
