Built on Strength, Fueled by Community
From two small studios to one vibrant, unified space inside The Community Center, Alicia Munro shares her journey—and what it means to serve both Chelan and Manson families under one roof.

When Alicia Munro moved from the west side of the state to the Lake Chelan Valley in 2012, she brought more than weights and workout equipment—she brought a passion for wellness and community. That passion would ultimately make her the first tenant of the Lake Chelan Community Center.
“I actually came over to go camping,” Alicia laughs, recalling her first visit to the valley. “I noticed there was no gym, and I thought, ‘Well, that’s an opportunity.’ Everyone told me I was crazy, but I poured my savings into building one.”

“This isn’t just where I work. It’s where I see neighbors, clients, and friends every single day.” ~ Alicia Munro
From those humble beginnings, Alicia opened True Fitness Gym in Manson, where she quickly built a loyal following. As demand grew, she opened a second location in Chelan, cementing her role as one of the valley's most dedicated small-business owners.
Now, with the Lake Chelan Community Center ideally situated between the two towns, Alicia has consolidated her business into one thriving location. “It’s convenient for everyone,” she says. “And business is bigger and better than ever.”
When the opportunity arose to join the new community center, Alicia didn’t hesitate. “I was the first person in the building,” she says proudly. “It was still under construction, but I could feel the energy. People would stop by, peek in, and I’d give them tours. Everyone was so excited.”
Today, True Fitness operates 24 hours a day inside the Lake Chelan Community Center. It’s surrounded by neighbors like The Vine Coffee Shop, the John and Helen Horan Indoor Playroom, and the Boys and Girls Club—creating a daily rhythm of activity and connection. “I see parents working out while their kids play, people meeting for coffee after class, moms setting up playdates—it’s become a true hub of activity and connection,” Alicia says.
The growth has been remarkable. “I have more gym members now in one location than I did when I had two,” she says. “People love being here. They come to work out, and they stay to connect.”
Alicia also sees a bright future for the center. She imagines community events spilling onto the patio, yoga and dance classes filling the new gymnasium, and performances lighting up the upcoming Performing Arts Center. “There’s so much potential,” she says. “This place brings Chelan and Manson together. It’s uniting the valley.”
The Lake Chelan Community Center continues to grow as a vibrant gathering place for wellness, creativity, and connection—just as entrepreneurs like Alicia Munro envisioned years ago.
